GAP Fengcheng Children's Home

The Gap Foundation currently cares for 12 orphaned and abandoned children in a purpose-built home in Dandong, China.  The children in our care range from 5-19 years old, and are an even mix of girls and boys.

Here we are!  12 children, 'Mama', 'Daddy' and our 'Aunties' and 'Uncles'.
Our home is the pink building in the background.

School Life

All of the children go to school in the local community, three to a special needs school.  Before coming to live at the Gap Fengcheng Children's Home, none had the opportunity to go to school.  Now, some of our children are at the top of their classes academically.

Making Progress

It has been encouraging to see the progress the children have made since coming to live with us at the children's home.  One case, in particular, worth mentioning is that of Anna.  When she came to live with us, she was not able to walk and had to be carried from place to place.

Then Anna learned to walk with the aid of a newly-purchased walker.

Now, Anna is able to walk, dance and play on her own - an achievement she is very proud of and which has empowered her greatly.  In addition to being able to walk, Anna is now also able to read and write and express herself.
